Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (IMC Float Position)
Location: Arlington, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Float position; candidates must be interested in floating to various units including IMC, Telemetry 1 (cardiac), Telemetry 2 (non-cardiac), and Med/Surg.
- Med Surg experience required to float.
- Every Other Week (EOW) schedule required, no call.
- Intermediate Care Unit focused on pulmonary, cardiac, and trauma patients.
- Patient population includes those needing advanced airway management (tracheostomies, ventilators, high flow O2, BIPAP), cardiac drips, chest tubes, and Zephyr Valves.
- Conditions treated include acute and chronic pulmonary issues, CHF, MI, unstable angina, pericardial disease, cardiac drug toxicity, pacemaker/ICD issues, therapeutic catheterization, dysrhythmias, and continuous cardiac medication infusions.
- Includes med/surg overflow patients.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
- Minimum 1 year of Intermediate Care experience within the last year
- Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Direct Observation Unit (DOU), and Stepdown units
- Telemetry experience on the unit, specifically in PCU settings
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Management of dysrhythmias
- Central line care management
- PICC line management
- Heparin protocols
- Ability to manage and titrate cardiac drips
- Adherence to isolation precautions

- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification.
- Proof of 2 clinical references required.
- Work history verification for last 7 years required.

- Candidate must complete facility-specific documents and policies prior to start, including confidentiality agreements, code of ethics, dress code, parking forms, and orientation.
- Badge and photo ID required; candidate must wear both agency and facility badges at all times.
- EPIC training modules may be required depending on assignment.
- Candidate must be prepared to comply with all infection control and safety protocols.
This position is ideal for an experienced RN with strong cardiac telemetry and intermediate care skills, comfortable with floating across multiple units and managing complex cardiac and pulmonary patients.
