Job Opportunity: RN - OR (Operating Room)
Location: Martinsville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Operating Room / Surgery
- Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Shift: Days (6:30 AM – 2:30 PM)
- Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
- Weekend Hours: Every other weekend / as needed
- Call Requirements: Yes
- Number of Openings: 1
Facility & Unit Information
- 10 OR rooms, 4 PACU beds, 19 Ambulatory bays, 5 EPS, 9 Endoscopy bays
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) system: Meditech
- Patient population: General Surgery cases
- Surgical Services float required as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
- Perioperative nursing experience
- Experience as OR Circulate RN and OR Scrub RN
- Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in Acute Care, Home Health, and Outpatient settings
Additional Information
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Tuesdays
- Must be located 60 miles or more from facility to qualify as travel
- Random drug screening and criminal background consent required
- Scrubs provided; unapproved fingernails per AORN guidelines are not allowed
Summary
This is a travel RN position in the Operating Room at a full-service acute care hospital in Martinsville, VA. The role requires 2 years of OR nursing experience, current Virginia RN licensure, and certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS. The position offers day shifts with weekend rotation and call responsibilities. The ideal candidate is experienced, professional, and committed to high standards of perioperative nursing.
