Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (PICC) - Modesto, California
Job Summary
- Accountable for assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in an acute patient setting.
- Provides direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
- Delivers holistic and individualized care considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
- Maintains collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers.
- Adheres to hospital policies, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws to promote optimal patient experience.
- Specializes in vascular access including PIV, Midline, and PICC line insertion.

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum 1 year of vascular access experience, including PIV, Midline, and PICC line insertion.
- Vascular access experience within the last year.
- Experience working with neonate and pediatric patients.
- Experience in an acute care setting.
- Specialization in vascular access including PIV, Midline, and PICC line insertion.
Background and Screening Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start.
- FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC Sanctions List, Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List searches as applicable.
- Sex Offender Search within 90 days of start.
- Education verification required (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred).
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana due to CA law).
- Employment history verification: Full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days; verification of up to 7 years required.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start; must be renewed annually.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years).
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days; annual renewal required.
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella - proof of immunity or vaccination.
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination.
- Varicella immunity or vaccination.
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (11/1 - 4/30).
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start.
- Color Blind Exam (in-person) if applicable.
- Respiratory Safety Clearance required annually.
Facility Specific Requirements
- Candidate must review and sign various facility policies and documents prior to start, including:
- Job description
- Standards of Business Conduct
- General Regulatory Orientation for Contracted Workers
- Vendor Training and Code of Conduct (2024 and 2025 versions)
- Overpayment Refund Policy (2024 and 2025 versions)
- TB Questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Request for Religious Accommodation Form if applicable (for vaccines or PAPR exemption)
- Epic Questionnaire (RN only, required for new candidates starting 11/3/2025 and onward)
- Passport-style badge photo required.
- Personal or auto insurance only required for driving positions.
Additional Notes
- Candidates with religious or medical exemptions for immunizations must complete the facility-specific religious accommodation form.
- Failed fit tests due to facial hair require shaving and retesting; other failures may require PAPR training.
- Candidates must have no active pulmonary TB if TB questionnaire is positive.
- Employment gaps over one year require approval.
- References: 2 professional references required for clinical acute care candidates (Aya requirement only).
This position is ideal for experienced vascular access RNs licensed in California who are comfortable working in an acute care setting and meeting comprehensive credentialing and health requirements.
