Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
  • Shift: Night Shift, 3x12-hour shifts, weekends required
  • Floating: May be required between campuses
  • Patient Ratio: Not applicable
  • Equipment: GE Ventilators

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Ohio
  • Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • High School Diploma or College Diploma or official transcripts from a Respiratory Therapy program (third-party verification acceptable; unofficial transcripts not accepted)

Certifications & Competencies

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (check unit-specific requirements)
  • Unit-specific competency exams required
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required prior to start
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for all RNs (not applicable for RRT)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific codes apply)
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Education accreditation confirmation required
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
  • Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required
  • Confidential Fraud Waste Abuse and Compliance Reporting Mechanism Form required
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Training Certificate required and must be updated annually
  • Ethics and Compliance Policies must be reviewed and signed annually

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
  • TB questionnaire required in lieu of annual TB test renewal
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if low titer and no proof of vaccines
  • Hepatitis B: Titer or 3-vaccine series; signed declination acceptable
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemption requires documentation
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); decliners must wear a mask
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager/director or formal leadership role
  • Employment application required

Notes

  • Fingerprinting must be completed using Ohio BCI & FBI codes specific to healthcare workers; results must be current within 1 year of start
  • Fingerprinting and background checks are time-sensitive and must be completed prior to or shortly after start date
  • Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory for this position

This position is ideal for RRTs with respiratory/neuro diagnostics experience seeking a travel contract in Ohio with night shifts and weekend work.
