Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel)

Position Details

Specialty: Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg)
Shift: Nights (6:00 PM - 6:30 AM), every third weekend (Saturday/Sunday)
Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
Call Requirements: None
Number of Openings: 1
Float Requirements: Float between three Med/Surg units in Lafayette

Unit Information

Unit: 3rd Floor Resource Team
Number of Beds: 27-30
Patient Ratios: 1:5 to 1:6
Patient Types: Orthopedic and general surgeries, back surgeries, GI issues, renal, oncology, general medical
Equipment: Alaris pumps, Kangaroo pumps, vein light, Pyxis medication system, Vocera communication device
Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Epic

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
Minimum 3 years of Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Experience with telemetry patients
Proficient in Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with general and orthopedic post-operative care
Experience managing Heparin drips and blood administration

Work Environment & Culture

Fast-paced unit requiring flexibility and independence
Must be able to ask questions when needed
Dress code: Navy blue scrubs; no non-facility sweatshirts or jackets; no facial piercings

Additional Information

Candidates must complete computer-based training (CBTs) prior to clinical orientation
Opportunity to test out of Epic training if used within the past year

This position offers a dynamic work environment with a focus on Med/Surg nursing and requires a nurse who is adaptable, experienced, and comfortable working night shifts in a resource team setting.
