Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Davis, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a 6-bed adult medical surgical ICU with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 2:1.
- Preferably requires 2 years of ICU experience.
- May be floated to Emergency Department and Medical Surgical/Telemetry departments based on census and staffing needs.
- May be scheduled for day shifts as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California.
- Minimum of 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit requirement for prior travel experience mentioned.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC Sanctions List, and Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List checks required as applicable.
- Education verification required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or failed tests).
- Immunizations and titers required: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and seasonal flu vaccination during flu season. Religious and medical exemptions considered with proper documentation.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
- Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start, renewed annually.
- References: 2 professional references required within 3 years for clinical positions.
- Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually.
Certifications and Competencies
- ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications mandatory.
- Additional certifications may be required based on position specifics (e.g., CCRN, TNCC, PALS, NRP) – verify as applicable.
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam and other competency exams as applicable.
Work Environment
- Adult medical surgical ICU setting.
- Patient-to-nurse ratio 2:1.
- Potential float to ED and Medical Surgical/Telemetry units.
- Day shift scheduling possible.
