Description
Job Opportunity: RN - Labor & Delivery (L&D) - Travel Position
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Work Environment
- Department: Emergency Department (ED)
- Unit Size: 101 beds
- Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1; up to 7:1 on ED behavioral holds
- Staffing: Techs available; work includes cardiac monitoring, triage, and unit clerks (days and nights)
- Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling; schedule must meet department needs
- Floating Policy: No floating outside ED; must float within all ED sections
- Patient Experience: Emphasis on AIDET communication, respectful behavior, and keeping patients informed throughout their visit
- Work Culture: Known for teamwork and welcoming personalities; serves a multicultural community with over 120 languages spoken locally
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the Emergency Department (ED), including experience within the last year
- Certifications (must have before start date):
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Information
- The hospital is a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and has a Level III neonatal intensive care unit.
- The ED is high volume and technologically equipped, supporting advanced procedures and patient care.
- The department values positive patient experience and staff collaboration.
- Floating is limited to sections within the ED only.
- Scheduling is designed to meet department needs with every other weekend shifts required.
