    Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

    Location: Santa Rosa, California
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Summary

    Seeking a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years of experience. This position requires labor and postpartum experience and involves working in an acute care hospital setting with a staffed bed count of 277. The nurse will work with a patient ratio of 1:3 and may be required to float between like units.


    Work Schedule

    • 4x12 shifts available upon request
    • Orientation: 36 hours
    • Block scheduling: No
    • Locals not accepted
    • Pending license not accepted

    Required Experience

    • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience in Labor and Delivery (higher value confirmed)
    • Labor and postpartum experience is a hard-stop requirement
    • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

    Certifications Required

    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • AWHONN Intermediate
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

    Preferred:

    • AWHONN Advanced

    License Requirements

    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for California
    • NURSYS verification required as applicable

    Additional Requirements

    • Must be willing to float between like units
    • Facility uses Epic for charting
    • Scrub colors: Royal Blue or Navy Blue for RNs
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
    • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • Drug screen: 10 panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
    • Immunizations and health documents required:
      • TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
      • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
      • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
      • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
      • Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
      • COVID vaccine or declination
    • Fit mask test required for travel nurses (updated annually)
    • Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel nurses
    • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
    • Employment application covering at least last 5 years required

    Orientation and Training

    • Facility-specific modules and regulatory training required annually via WorkRamp LMS platform
    • Specialty-specific modules for Labor and Delivery RNs required
    • Epic access training required (especially for Per Diem and travel nurses)

    Facility Notes

    • Acute Care Hospital with 277 staffed beds
    • Patient ratios 1:3
    • Scrub colors specified for different roles
    • Floating policy applies; nurse may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance

    Requirements/Qualifications

    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
    • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
    • Postpartum experience
    • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
    • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
    • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
    • Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
