Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit & Patient Population

  • 36-bed unit with private rooms
  • Patient ratio: 1:6
  • Float required to units of equal or lesser acuity
  • Patient ages range from young adult to geriatric
  • Focus on cardiac care patients recovering from interventions such as cardiac surgery, coronary artery stent placement, and pacemaker implant
  • Also admits hemodynamically stable non-procedural cardiac patients

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in specialty
  • Prior travel experience required (first-timers not accepted)
  • Weekend availability: every other weekend required
  • EPIC experience required

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - required as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification - preferred
  • Other certifications as applicable: PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, MAB, CPI

Licensure

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas
  • Primary source online verification required (e.g., NURSYS)

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, must be renewed annually
  • Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Required immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required

Background & Documentation

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Education verification required (highest level)
  • Work history verification for 7 years
  • Driver’s license or state ID required
  • I9 and E-Verify compliance required
  • Photo for badge required

Additional Notes

  • Locals residing in certain counties are not eligible to contract (specific counties excluded)
  • Unit requires float flexibility
  • References and skills checklist required as per facility policy

This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs with prior travel contract experience, strong cardiac care skills, and EPIC proficiency.

Generally speaking, Host Healthcare doesn't always have the highest rate on the market. Having gone with competing agencies in the past, I have often been disappointed and unsupported and ultimately found it wasn't worth the small pay bump
