Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (CVOR) - Travel/Contract
Location: Santa Monica, California
Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital (266 staffed beds)

- Call Requirements:
- 2 primary weekday calls (10:30 PM - 6:00 AM) in a 6-week call cycle
- 2 secondary weekday calls (10:30 PM - 6:00 AM)
- 2 primary weekend calls (one 12-hour shift, either 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM - 6:00 AM) on Saturday or Sunday or both
- 2 secondary weekend calls (one 12-hour shift, same times as above) on Saturday or Sunday or both
- Block Schedule: May be accommodated at manager's discretion
- On-Call: Yes
- First-Timers: Not accepted (prior experience required)
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience
- CVOR experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Facility & Work Environment
- Acute care hospital located beachside
- Charting system: Epic
- Scrub color for RNs: Navy Blue
- Parking available (fees apply)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Drug screen: 10-panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respirator clearance required annually for travel candidates
- Fit mask testing required (specific mask types accepted)
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
Training & Competency Requirements
- Completion of Providence WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:
- Annual regulatory requirements
- Specialty-specific modules for CVOR and acute care
- Epic training modules (must be completed and transcript submitted before moving to productive work)
- Competency exams as applicable (medication, pharmacology, fetal monitoring if applicable)
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
Additional Notes
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
- RTO (Return to Office) restrictions must be included at time of submission
- Facility may call off once per two-week pay period
- Pending licenses are not accepted; candidate must have active, valid license at time of start
This position is ideal for experienced CVOR RNs with at least 2 years of specialty experience, who are comfortable with on-call responsibilities and working in a fast-paced acute care hospital environment using Epic. Candidates must be fully compliant with Providence Health and Services documentation, immunization, and training requirements.
