Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Santa Rosa, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years of experience. This position requires labor and postpartum experience and involves floating between like units. The facility offers 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratios and a 36-hour orientation.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Postpartum experience
- Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or training
Facility & Work Environment
- Acute Care Hospital with 277 staffed beds
- Charting system: Epic
- Scrub colors: Royal Blue or Navy Blue for RNs; Peds RNs have peds-friendly tops with royal/navy bottoms
- Floating may be required within the Providence system
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Drug screen: 10-panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respirator fit testing required annually (travel only)
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years
Training & Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Color blind testing if required by unit
- Competency exams as applicable by specialty
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) training required for all L&D RNs (can be met by AWHONN or NCC certification or Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam)
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific WorkRamp modules required (assigned via LMS)
- Epic training modules required and must be completed within a week of orientation
Scheduling & Work Conditions
- 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio
- 4x12 shifts available upon request
- Floating between like units required
- Guaranteed hours but facility may call off once per two-week pay period
