Required Experience

• Years of Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year ICU experience (highest requirement found)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• LA Fire Card (must be obtained prior to or within 30 days of start)

Required Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for California (NURSYS verification required)

Key Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

• Must have a background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
• Includes SSN Trace, Death Master Index, Nationwide and County checks, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS Level 3, Education Verification, MVR (if applicable)
• International background check if candidate has lived/worked internationally in past 7 years
• Background checks updated annually

Health Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
• Fit mask test (annual, onsite if no recent record)
• Immunizations/vaccinations or declinations required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual update required)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
  • COVID vaccine or declination

Drug Testing

• 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)

References & Employment History

• Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
• Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors) with month/year format for dates

Training & Competency Requirements

Competency Exams

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
• Unit-specific skills checklist (updated annually)

Facility-Specific Training Modules (via WorkRamp LMS)

• Annual completion of system-level regulatory modules
• Specialty-specific modules for ICU and PCU units in California
• Epic training modules required prior to or shortly after start
• Floating policy acknowledgment (may be required to float to other Providence facilities)

Additional Notes

• Weekend work every other weekend is required
• Floating within skillset expected
• Pending license candidates are not accepted
• First-time travel nurses are welcome

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
• Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• LA Fire Card (must be obtained prior to or within 30 days of start)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
