Description
Job Opportunity: RN - Coronary Care ICU (T4)
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Specialty: Coronary Care ICU (T4)

Contract Details
- Length: 13 weeks minimum (facility will not consider contracts shorter than 13 weeks)
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts (7am-7pm)
- Weekend Requirement: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (4 total weekend shifts per 4 weeks)
- Holidays: Scheduled based on unit coverage
- Orientation: 2 days floor-specific orientation + weekly orientations on Mondays (except holidays)
- Float: Required to float to other ICUs, all Telemetry units (4:1 patient ratio), and Westgate campus if asked. Travelers float before permanent staff.
Unit & Patient Population
- Unit: CTICU/CVICU
- Beds: 24
- Patient Acuity: Very high acuity cardiac surgery recovery patients including:
- Empallas
- IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump)
- CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
- Lung transplant
- Thoracic surgery
- ECMO
- Esophagectomy
- Lobectomy
- Pneumectomy
- TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement)
- Common Procedures: Bronchoscopy, Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, epidurals, high number of bedside procedures
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:2 in ICU; 4:1 on Telemetry units
- Support Staff: 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) per shift, Respiratory Therapists 24/7, Pharmacy 24/7
- Charge Nurse: Yes, no patient assignment
- EMR System: Cerner
- Telemetry Equipment: Phillips
- In-House Coverage: Intensivist on-site during day, on-call at night
- IV Team: No; strong IV skills required
Required Qualifications
- Licensure: Valid RN license for Arizona
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of CORE ICU experience in specialty being submitted (Coronary Care ICU)
- Level 1 Trauma experience required (waived if specified)
- CVICU experience preferred but ICU RN with cardiac patient experience acceptable
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- CCRN preferred but not required
- Exams:
- Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (max 2 attempts; failure results in 6-month disqualification in region)
- Day 1 pass/fail SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (except ED and NyICU with modified requirements)
- Other Requirements:
- Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings
- Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing
- Must pass day 1 orientation pass/fail exam
- Must have own vehicle if part of a travel team
- Cannot hold two contracts simultaneously within this system
- Must have been off permanent staff at this system for 12 months to be eligible for travel assignment
- Prior travel experience required for ED and Neuro ICU (not explicitly required for this ICU role)

- This is a teaching hospital; travelers may be expected to work with nursing students
- High acuity environment with frequent bedside procedures
- Strong sterile technique and competency in Foley catheter insertion and central line care expected
- Travelers will float to multiple units and campuses as needed
