Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Med Surg Tele Unit
Location: Crescent City, California

Job Description
- Provide direct nursing care for patients of all ages in the Med Surg Telemetry Unit.
- Use the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Manage care of assigned patients and direct activities of ancillary staff.
- Assess patients' physiological and psychological needs comprehensively.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Demonstrate leadership skills, including charge nurse responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience with a minimum of 1 year, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
- Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS screening.
- Education verification required; BSN preferred but not mandatory.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply).
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
- Negative drug test required within 6 months of start.
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years (Aya requirement, not client).
- Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps over 30 days.
Additional Requirements
- Must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start.
- TB questionnaire must be completed and signed by a healthcare provider within 90 days of start and renewed annually.
- Compliance with facility policies on dress code and parking (review only).
Summary
This is a travel contract Registered Nurse position in Med Surg Telemetry in California requiring a valid CA RN license, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications, and at least 1 year of relevant nursing experience. The role involves direct patient care, leadership duties, and comprehensive patient assessment and management. Extensive background checks, immunizations, health screenings, and compliance with facility policies are mandatory.
