    Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

    Location: Santa Rosa, California
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Summary

    Seeking a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years of experience. This acute care hospital position requires labor and postpartum experience (hard stop). The nurse will work with a patient ratio of 1:3 and may be required to float between like units. Orientation is 36 hours. Block scheduling is not available, but 4x12 shifts can be requested.


    Requirements/Qualifications

    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
    • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
    • Postpartum nursing experience
    • Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
    • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

    Required Certifications

    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • AWHONN Intermediate
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

    Preferred:

    • AWHONN Advanced

    Work Details

    • Ratios: 1 nurse to 3 patients
    • Orientation: 36 hours
    • Float: May be required to float between similar units
    • Scheduling: No block scheduling; 4x12 shifts allowed upon request
    • Locals and pending licenses are not accepted
    • Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off once per two-week pay period

    Health and Safety Requirements

    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent), updated annually
    • Immunizations and screenings:
      • TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
      • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
      • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
      • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
      • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
      • COVID vaccine or declination
    • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)

    Background and Compliance

    • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • Education verification required (nursing degree)
    • Employment application covering last 5 years (7 years for APN/subcontractors)
    • Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting
    • Various state-specific background and registry checks as applicable

    Orientation and Training Modules

    • Completion of Providence Health and Services WorkRamp modules required annually, including:
      • Core regulatory requirements
      • Specialty-specific modules for Labor and Delivery
      • Epic training modules (completion required before moving to permanent status)

    Additional Notes

    • Scrub colors: Royal Blue or Navy Blue for RNs; Peds RNs have specific tops
    • Must comply with Providence floating policy acknowledgment
    • Must submit required documentation (I9, government-issued ID, social security card, etc.) prior to start

    This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs who meet the certification and licensure requirements and are ready for a 13-week travel assignment in an acute care hospital setting.
