Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Surgery
Location: Kingwood, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Unit: Operating Room (Open Heart)
- Number of Beds: 457
- Number of ORs: 14 (including 1 Open Heart Room; coordinating for 2 Open Hearts)
- Staff: 8 total (4 RNs, 4 Techs)
- Shifts:
- Day Shift: 7 AM - 3 PM with call coverage after 3 PM and weekend call
- Night Shift: Call coverage
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Equipment: Standard OR equipment
- EMR System: Meditech
Required Skills
- Open Heart experience
- Cardiothoracic service line expertise
Preferred Skills
- Experience in other OR service lines such as Trauma, General Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Plastics
- Flexibility to float to other ORs when no open heart cases are scheduled
Typical Procedures
- CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting) with and without EVH (Endoscopic Vein Harvesting)
- Impellas
- Pericardial windows
- Valve replacements
- ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation)

Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Information
- Years of experience required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- Floating Area: Operating Room
- Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs
- Call: Call assistance and holiday call assistance required
