Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Laguna Hills, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- First-time travelers accepted
- Floating: Required to float to like patients on other units, including ED holding
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Documentation System: EPIC
- RTO Restrictions: Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays; pre-approved time off at manager discretion
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including ICU experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Prior Travel Experience
- Not required
Required Competencies and Testing
- Medication Calculation Test (required for all RNs)
- EKG/Dysrhythmia Competency Exam (Relias EKG Basic or Advanced depending on unit)
- Pass/Fail Testing for EKG and Medication (not required for Per Diem)
- Color Blind Testing (annual)
- Unit-specific Skills Checklist (annual)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start
- Fit Mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (fit testing arranged onsite or through Employee Health)
- TDAP vaccine within last 10 years (declination allowed)
- Negative TB test (QGOLD, TSPOT, or 2-Step PPD) within 1 year, updated annually
- TB Questionnaire annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low/equivocal titer)
- Hepatitis B Surface Antibody Titer (declination allowed if low/equivocal)
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (declination allowed if low/equivocal)
- Negative 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year (instant drug screen acceptable; marijuana panel excluded per CA state mandate)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine (required Nov 1 - Apr 30; declination allowed)
- COVID vaccination record preferred
Documentation and Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG required
- Emergency Contact Form required
- Photo for badge required
- Drug and Alcohol Free Policy review required
- Hand Hygiene and Dress & Appearance Policies review required
- EPIC Education Certificate of Completion required prior to start (approx. 8 hours of modules)
- YouLearn Modules completion required prior to start
- HIPAA Education Certificate of Completion required prior to start
- Employment Application and 2 professional references required
- Annual internal evaluation if employed for 1 year or more
Additional Notes
- Candidates within 50 miles of the facility may be eligible for local rate
- Scheduling and time off requests must be submitted and approved at time of submission
- Facility expects high proficiency in required job skills; failure in competency testing may risk contract cancellation
