Job Opportunity: CT Technologist
Location: Lincoln, Nebraska
Employment Type: Contract Clinician
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The CT Technologist performs computed tomography (CT) procedures under physician supervision, using CT technology to assist in diagnosing medical conditions for patients of all ages.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all types of CT studies, including diagnostic and interventional procedures, while practicing radiation safety.
- Use sterile technique as required.
- Position patients properly and select appropriate technical factors to demonstrate anatomy optimally.
- Perform venipuncture.
- Operate CT equipment and support systems (HIS, RIS, PACS, teleradiography).
- Evaluate images for technical quality and document studies accurately.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and care for patients across the age continuum.
- Coordinate exams within and across departments to ensure timely and complete care.
- Communicate effectively with medical staff, patients, families, and coworkers.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain equipment; report issues as needed.
- Assist with departmental orientation and student clinical education.
- Administer drugs and biologicals as per procedures.
- Engage in continuing education and professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
- Current certification or eligibility for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Certification in CT required within 24 months of hire.
- Valid Nebraska Medical Radiographer License.
- Minimum of 2 years of CT Technologist experience.
- ARRT (R) and ARRT (CT) certifications required.
- BLS certification (AHA, ARC, or Military Training Network).
- Experience with GE CT scanners is required.
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system is required.
- Must live within 50 miles of the job location.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of CT positioning, technical factors, and radiation safety.
- Familiarity with non-invasive and invasive CT procedures.
- Understanding of relevant regulations (Joint Commission, federal, state).
- Proficiency with CT equipment, PACS, and related computer systems.
- Ability to work effectively under stress and in emergent situations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
- Professionalism, courtesy, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to care for diverse patient populations safely.
