Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN Step Down)
Location: Elmira, New York

Job Description
- Work in a Step Down unit with patient ratios:
- 3:1 ratio in Step Down
- 5:1 ratio on day shift
- 7:1 ratio on night shift
- Responsibilities include:
- Medication administration
- Patient assessments
- Developing and managing care plans
- Effective communication and teamwork
- Physical demands: ACLS, pushing, pulling, lifting
Required Qualifications
Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for New York State
- State License Verification must be completed within 30 days prior to start
Certifications
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- 8 Hours of Stroke Training (including NIHSS)
Competency and Skills
- Completion of Arnot Skills Checklist for the assigned unit (updated annually)
- Passing score (80% or higher) on Arnot Core Competency Exam for RNs
Health and Safety Requirements
- COVID-19 Vaccine (proof of vaccination or agency declination)
- MMR: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series required
- Hepatitis B: Positive antibody titer, 3 vaccine series, or specific declination form required
- Influenza Vaccine or specific declination form (mask required if declined)
- Varicella: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series required
- Tdap: Preferred within last 10 years or specific declination form
- TB Test: Must have one of the following within required timeframes:
- 2 skin PPDs (1 within 12 months, 1 within 3 months) or
- 1 Quantiferon/Spot test within 12 months
- For past positives, chest x-ray within 12 months may be required
- Fit Test for approved mask models within last 12 months
Other Requirements
- Physical/Health Statement completed within last 12 months, including vitals and vision test
- Valid US Driver’s License or State ID (not expired)
- Agency Background Check and Drug Screen (9+ panel) within 30 days of start
- Employment and education verification, including references and resume
- Completion of various Arnot-specific forms and acknowledgments (e.g., Job Description, Code of Conduct, Sexual Harassment Acknowledgement)
