Registered Nurse (CVICU) - Omaha, Nebraska
Job Details

- Shift Hours:
- 06:30 AM – 06:30 PM
- 06:30 PM – 06:30 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Every other or as needed based on unit needs
- Orientation: 2 shifts of unit/department specific orientation
- Floating: Will float to all inpatient units except Maternity/NICU
- Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs
Unit Information
- Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Beds: 18
- Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Patient Population:
- Open heart, complex thoracic and vascular patients
- Patients supported by Impella, IABP, CRRT, ECMO
- Common and advanced cardiac surgeries, lytic cases, carotids, TCARS, Fempop, EVARs/Endo AAAs
- Complex cases from cath lab, structural heart program, EP lab, ER, and clinic
- Support Staff:
- No CNAs on unit
- Charge nurse on each shift who also takes patient assignments
- Hospitalist and Intensivist in-house 24/7
- No Tele/Monitor Techs; RNs must read and interpret cardiac strips independently
- Respiratory Therapy Equipment: RNs troubleshoot vents, CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow, etc.
Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1 year experience with CVICU patient population
- Ability to titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, antiarrhythmics
- Must pass a skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% (open book)
- Must comply with fingernail policy: artificial nails prohibited in patient care areas
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license required at submission to verify candidate is within 50-mile radius
- Candidates may not currently be employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with certain large healthcare systems within the radius
- Rapid turnaround time required for submission (7 days or less for 13-week contract)
- Radius rule strictly enforced

- No call or standby requirement
- Interview with facility manager (non-clinical)
