Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel Assignment

Location: Albany, New York

Job Description

Care for medically delicate and surgically complex patients in a Progressive Critical Care Unit (PCU).
Patient conditions include respiratory failure, sepsis, closed head injuries, multi-system organ dysfunction, endocrine disorders, complex traumas, and surgical complications.
Must be competent in care of both medical and surgical populations.
Required skills include ACLS certification and advanced hemodynamic monitoring, including pressor usage per titration protocols.
Experience with antihypertensive drips, sedative and narcan drips, thrombo-embolytics, arterial lines, central venous pressure (CVP) monitoring, external ventricular drains (EVD), orthopedic traction, infection prevention protocols, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), BiPAP/CPAP, and oxygen-dependent patients.
Average patient load is 3 high acuity patients.
Nurses with large scale adult PCU experience and community hospital ICU experience tend to perform well.
Navy blue scrubs are required.
Epic electronic medical record (EMR) experience is required.
Competency test required within 24 hours of submission.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
Minimum 2 years of experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with at least some experience within the last year.
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Experience with Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Contract Length

13 weeks

Additional Information

Local candidates from certain counties are not eligible.
Competency test will be administered shortly after application submission.
Average patient acuity is high, with a focus on complex medical and surgical cases.
