Travel/Contract ICU Registered Nurse
Location: San Francisco, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- ICU Registered Nurse position
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts (1900-0730)
- No on-call duties
- Weekend rotation required
- Floating as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum 3 years ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Prior Travel Experience
- Not explicitly required
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (AHA or ARC)
- BLS (AHA or ARC)
- NIH Stroke Certification (expiration 1-2 years)
- May require EKG competency exam and medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- ICU RNs at this facility required to take an onsite EKG exam after start
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening
- Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, FACIS, and other sanction lists
- Education verification required; BSN preferred but not mandatory
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana due to CA law)
- TB screening: Negative QGold or TSPOT within 90 days or 2 PPDs as specified, renewed annually
- Immunizations required: Tdap, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination), Flu seasonal vaccination during flu season
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or failed tests)
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually (not required for some non-clinical roles)
Documentation & Orientation
- Must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, overpayment refund policy, and regulatory orientation prior to start
- TB questionnaire required within 90 days of start and annually thereafter
- Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps
- Work history verification required for up to 7 years; gaps over 30 days must be explained
- References: 2 professional references required within 3 years for clinical acute care roles

- Candidates with religious exemptions for vaccines or facial hair must complete specific accommodation forms and receive approval
- Candidates must comply with all facility and state-specific screening and verification requirements
- Floating duties may be assigned as needed
