Description
Travel RN - Stepdown Unit
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide direct patient care on a Stepdown unit with a focus on respiratory care. Utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Coordinate care with ancillary departments and maintain patient rights and confidentiality.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Stepdown (Med Surg Intermediate)
- Number of Beds: 22
- Patient Ratios: 1:3 or 1:4
- Patient Population: Respiratory failure, alcohol intoxication (ETOH), overdose, GI bleed, electrolyte imbalance, COPD, cancer
- Equipment: Trach, Ventilator, VAPO, BiPAP
- EMR System: EPIC
Shift & Hours
- Shift: Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (flexible, must be indicated on submission)
- Weekend Hours: As required, typically every other weekend
- Call: None
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of Stepdown nursing experience in an inpatient setting within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- Trach and Ventilator experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Float experience to similar or lower acuity units as needed
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk most of the shift
- Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
- Ability to push, pull, grip up to 50 lbs., pinch up to 15 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally
- Exposure to blood and body fluids is high risk
- Flexible scheduling may be required based on patient care needs
Additional Notes
- Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1 (no exceptions)
- Teamwork, dependability, and flexibility are important personality traits for success in this role
