Registered Nurse (RN) - Pediatrics (Nights)

Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Provide nursing care for pediatric patients including Hematology/Oncology, Med Surg, and all pediatric specialties.
May float across NICU, general pediatric floor, and PICU.
Patient ratios range from 1:2 to 1:4.
Typical workweek is 36-40 hours; overtime applies after 40 hours.
Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system required within the last 12 months.
Must be willing to float to the Emergency Department to care for inpatient holds.

Required Qualifications

Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission.
Minimum 24 months of combined Pediatric and/or Oncology nursing experience.
Pediatric experience within the previous 18 months is required.
Hematology/Oncology nursing experience is required.
Must have completed at least one prior travel nursing contract within the last 18 months (no first-time travelers).
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
Membership or certification from the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON) is required.
Valid driver’s license.
Skills checklist specific to Pediatric/Oncology nursing discipline.
Professional references or performance evaluations within the last 24 months are preferred.

Cons

Generally speaking, Host Healthcare doesn't always have the highest rate on the market. Having gone with competing agencies in the past, I have often been disappointed and unsupported and ultimately found it wasn't worth the small pay bump
