Description
Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse
Location: Lewisburg, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule
- 3 shifts per week, 12-hour nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
- Weekends every other week
- Holidays as needed
- No call requirements
- Floating to other departments as needed
Unit Information
- Patient population includes hip fractures, osteomyelitis, cellulitis, acute kidney injury, pneumonia, bowel obstructions, and general medical/surgical patients
- May care for COVID-19 patients
- Tobacco and fragrance-free facility
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license for Pennsylvania
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Orientation & Training
- Clinical screening and manager interview required prior to placement
- Learning Management System (LMS) modules and new hire orientation required
- Medication, pharmacology, and dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams required
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Pennsylvania State Police PATCH search required within 1 year of start
- FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; may start with results pending but must be finalized within 45 days
- Child Abuse History Clearance required within 5 years; may start with results pending but must be finalized within 45 days
- Employment application and 2 professional references required
- Skills checklist required annually
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days of start; PPD not accepted
- Vaccinations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or full vaccine series)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (declinations not accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccine or approved exemption/declination accepted
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start
- Drug screening (9 panel) required within 1 year of start (agency-specific)
- Respiratory safety clearance required within 1 year of start, renewed annually
Additional Notes
- Photo for badge required (professional, passport-style)
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including code of conduct, confidentiality agreement, and health & wellness commitment
- Maximum return-to-office (RTO) time: 7 days
