Description

Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Labor and Delivery (L&D)
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • First-time travelers accepted: Yes
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and every other holiday
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
  • Block schedule accommodation: Exempt
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Locals accepted: Yes
  • Pending License accepted: No
  • Return to Office Restrictions: 1 request

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN Intermediate

Certifications must be current and cannot expire within 30 days of start date.


Required Licensure

  • Valid Registered Nurse license for Washington D.C. only
  • Primary source verification required
  • License must be current and not expiring within 30 days of start date

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma designation
  • 228 staffed beds
  • Charting systems include Centricity, Sorian, EDM, Lawson, Kronos
  • Scrub color provided

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in District of Columbia
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • AWHONN Intermediate certification
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association
  • NRP certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Requirements

  • Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
  • Complete employment application/resume including licensure, certifications, education, and employment history
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, social security trace, sex offender registry, FACIS Level 3, and education verification
  • Drug screening (9-panel within last 12 months, instant acceptable)
  • Physical exam completed by a physician, updated annually
  • Fit mask testing within one year, updated annually
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (or declination form)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines, boosters if needed)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination form)
    • Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines, boosters if needed)
    • Flu vaccine required annually (medical/religious exemptions accepted with approval)
    • COVID-19 vaccination required (no exemptions accepted)
