Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT-NICU)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide respiratory care in NICU, PICU, and CVICU settings with pediatric patients.
  • May float to various NICU and pediatric rehab units.
  • Schedule options: 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts.
  • High-level care experience required in Pediatrics, PICU, and NICU (Level 4).
  • Must communicate all time off and scheduling requests during submission and interview.
  • Fingerprinting required both onsite and through agency prior to start.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Ohio.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year.
  • Experience working with pediatric patients, specifically in pediatric respiratory therapy.
  • Certifications required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Valid government-issued photo ID required on assignment.
  • Criminal background check (FCRA compliant 7-year search) required prior to start; must be updated for breaks in service of 2+ months.
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
  • Transcript or diploma verification.
  • FBI and state fingerprinting (BCI) within 12 months of start; must be completed ASAP as processing can take up to 30 days.
  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start; updated annually.
  • HIPAA acknowledgment form required annually.
  • Pre-employment physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start; updated annually (specific approved mask models required).
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 6 months of start; annual renewal required.
  • Immunization or titer proof for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start; updated annually.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31); no declinations accepted.
  • Two recent satisfactory pre-employment references.
  • Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years in acute care clinical practice in a similar specialty.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually.

Work Environment

  • Assignments primarily in NICU, PICU, CVICU with pediatric patients.
  • May float to other pediatric rehab and NICU units.
  • Shift options include 12-hour shifts, 3 or 4 days per week.

Additional Notes

  • All prior work history, including any previous assignments at this or related facilities, must be included in the application profile.
  • Completion of online training modules (approximately 4-5 hours) prior to start is mandatory.
  • Badge pickup required onsite after completion of modules.
  • Candidates working with pediatric patients will complete fingerprinting onsite as part of onboarding.
  • Timely completion of fingerprinting and training modules is critical to avoid delays in start date.
