Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Registered Nurse)
Location: Arlington, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse
- Schedule: 7 PM to 7 AM (3 shifts of 12 hours each per week)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Unit Details:
- High-risk Labor & Delivery unit
- 16 labor rooms, 6 triage rooms, 6 antepartum rooms, 3 ORs
- Level 3 NICU on site
- Teaching facility with resident coverage
- Patient Population: Obstetric patients > 20 weeks gestation, including cases with preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, PPROM, multiples, fetal anomalies, and cardiac defects
- OR Team: Handles scheduled C-sections and add-on cases during the day
- Anesthesia: 24/7 in-house anesthesia coverage
- Procedures: External cephalic versions performed during the day
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Circulating nurse skillset
Unit Information
- Average daily census: 15 patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
- No on-call required
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling
- Medication management system: Omnicell
- Documentation systems: EPIC and OBTV
- Communication method: SBAR
- Scrubs provided
- EPIC training: Stork/OB module
Health and Safety Requirements
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31) unless approved medical or religious exemption is provided
- Fit test for N95 mask within last 12 months required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Adult TDAP vaccine required
- Drug screening within 30 days of start
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Physical exam within 1 year, including assessment of ability to meet physical demands
Compliance and Documentation
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Proof of I9, government-issued photo ID, and E-Verify
- Completion of facility-specific orientation, policies, and acknowledgements prior to start
- Submission of 2 clinical references
- Completion of competency exams and annual core training modules
- Candidate must complete vendor access request and facility background check process

- No call required
- Candidates must wear both agency and facility badges at all times
- Facility requires review and signature of multiple policies and agreements prior to start
- EPIC training modules may require 5-8 hours to complete before start date for some candidates
