Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical/Surgical
Location: Elmira, New York
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- 12-hour day shift, 7 days on, with every other holiday and every other weekend commitment.
- Dress code: Navy blue.
- Travel RNs are the first to float if needed.
Required Qualifications
Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for New York State.
- State License Verification must be completed within 30 days prior to start.
Experience
- Specialty: Medical/Surgical Nursing.
- Required years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 1 year or as per standard for Medical/Surgical RN roles.
Certifications & Training
- BLS (American Heart Association) certification required.
- Must complete Arnot Skills Checklist for the assigned unit (updated annually).

- TB Test: Must have one of the following within required timeframes: 2 skin PPDs (one within 12 months, one within 3 months), or 1 Quantiferon/Spot test within 12 months. Past positives require chest x-ray within 12 months.
- Varicella: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series required.
- Tdap: Preferred within last 10 years; if none, specific declination form required.
- Physical/Health Statement: Must be completed within last 12 months, including vitals and vision screening, with no restrictions.
Background & Screening
- Agency Background Check within 30 days of start, including SSN Address Trace, county and national criminal checks.
- Agency Drug Screen within 30 days of start; 9+ panel including common substances.
- Employment history for last 7 years must be documented with supervisor references.
- Education verification for initial nursing degree required.
- Professional references: 1 supervisor reference from last 12 months, 1 supervisor or peer reference from last 3 years.
Additional Requirements
- Driver’s License or State ID (valid and unexpired).
- Color photo (headshot) required.
- Completion of various professional forms and acknowledgments related to conduct, sexual harassment, parking, and assignment confirmation.
- Must complete self-study packet and quiz prior to start.
