Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Orange, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse for a 16-hour night shift position. The role requires the ability to circulate in the delivery room and work in a fast-paced, large hospital setting.
Schedule
- Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours (Day shift)
- Hours: 07:00 AM – 07:30 PM
- Weekends may exceed every other weekend to accommodate unit needs
- Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered
- No travel pairs accepted
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in California (pending licenses not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or completion of Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Intermediate required; AWHONN Advanced preferred
- Must be able to circulate during deliveries
License Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse license for California (pending licenses not accepted)

- Total staffed beds: 426
- Charting system: Epic

Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel staff
- Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years
Training and Competency Requirements
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or completion of Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules required via LMS platform
- Epic system training modules completion required prior to or shortly after start
Additional Notes
- No pending licenses accepted
- No travel pairs or first-time travelers allowed
- Must be able to work weekends as scheduled
- Local radius for assignment is 50 miles
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs who meet all certification and experience requirements and are ready to work in a dynamic acute care environment.
