Description

Registered Nurse - Oncology Surgical

Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Under general supervision, provide nursing care to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.

Essential Responsibilities

Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note all changes in physician orders.
Assist physicians in patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients; observe physiological manifestations and intervene as necessary.
Administer prescribed medications.
Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
Deliver competent patient care.
Communicate care plans with patients and families during hospitalization and at discharge.
Inform patients and families of hospital procedures.
Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
Delegate tasks to support staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Oklahoma
Minimum 1 year of Surgical Oncology nursing experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification or Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) certification
Stepdown unit experience
Medical-Surgical nursing experience
