Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse

Location: Santa Monica, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Work in a Labor and Delivery unit with:

  • 4 antepartum rooms
  • 9 labor/high risk rooms
  • 3 triage rooms
• No on-call required
• May float to postpartum unit if needed
• Responsibilities include:

  • Fetal heart monitoring
  • High-risk pregnancy monitoring
  • Assisting with C-sections and vaginal deliveries
  • Postpartum couplet care (newborn and maternal) if needed

Schedule

• Weekend shifts required every other weekend
• Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager’s discretion

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Certifications Required

• AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
• FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring)

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to float to postpartum unit if needed
• Background check and various verifications required (including education, employment, and state-specific searches)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start date
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • TB test or chest X-ray
  • Tdap vaccine (or declination)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Drug screening (10-panel) within 90 days of start
• Fit mask testing required (annual)

System & Documentation

• Charting system: Epic
• Scrub color: Navy Blue for RNs
• Parking available with fees

Notes

• Local radius for assignment is 50 miles
• Guaranteed hours with facility able to call off once per two-week pay period
• Must complete required online training modules prior to start (including specialty-specific and regulatory modules)
• References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of relevant experience within last 3 years

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses looking for a travel contract in a beachside acute care hospital setting with a supportive team and no on-call requirements.
