Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Registered Nurse)
Location: Santa Monica, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Work in a Labor and Delivery unit with:
- 4 antepartum rooms
- 9 labor/high risk rooms
- 3 triage rooms
- No on-call required
- May float to postpartum unit if needed
- Responsibilities include:
- Fetal heart monitoring
- High-risk pregnancy monitoring
- Assisting with C-sections and vaginal deliveries
- Postpartum couplet care (newborn and maternal) when needed
Schedule
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend
- Floating between Labor & Delivery and Postpartum units required
- Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager’s discretion
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Facility & Work Environment
- Acute care hospital setting, beachside location
- Charting system: Epic
- Uniform scrub color for RNs: Navy Blue
- Parking available (fees apply)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- TB test or chest X-ray (annual update required)
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine or declination
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Respirator fit testing (annual, travel only)
- Background checks including:
- Nationwide criminal background check within 45 days of start
- Education verification
- State-specific searches as applicable
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years
Training & Competency
- Completion of required WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:
- Regulatory requirements
- Specialty-specific modules for Labor and Delivery
- Epic training modules (if applicable)
- Competency exams as required by specialty
- Medication and pharmacology competency exam as applicable
Additional Notes
- Local radius for assignment is 50 miles
- Guaranteed hours with ability for facility to call off once per two-week pay period
- No pending licenses accepted
- Must include Return to Office (RTO) restrictions at time of submission
- Float policy acknowledgment required
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs who hold the necessary certifications and are comfortable working in a high-risk obstetrics environment with some floating to postpartum care.
