Description
Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM), 4 shifts per week (4x12)
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 hours (candidate's choice)
Weekend Requirements: Every other full weekend (Saturday and Sunday) expected
Holiday Requirements: Expected to work at least one major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s Day)
Time Off: Up to 5 days off per 13-week period can be automatically approved; additional time off requires approval and may need to be made up
Job Summary
Provide direct patient care for adult patients on a telemetry and medical-surgical short stay unit. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Coordinate with ancillary departments to optimize patient comfort and outcomes. Practice within the scope of nursing and adhere to state nursing regulations and facility standards.
Unit Information
- Patient Population: Adults only
- Patient Mix: Approximately 50% medical, 50% telemetry
- Patient Ratios: Typically 4-6 patients per nurse
- Equipment: Standard telemetry nursing equipment
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
Required Certifications
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Additional Requirements
- Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1 (exemptions require approval)
- Float to other units as needed
