Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule: Weekends required, 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
  • Floating: May be required to float between campuses
  • Patient Ratio: Not applicable
  • Equipment: GE Ventilators

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Ohio
  • Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • High School Diploma

Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI acceptable
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI acceptable (may be required depending on unit)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and state fingerprinting (Ohio BCI & FBI)
  • Education accreditation confirmation for Respiratory Therapy program graduates
  • Transcript or diploma verification required for Respiratory Therapy education
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
    • TB questionnaire
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (mask required if declined)

Additional Requirements

  • 2 professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leadership
  • Employment application and skills checklist required prior to start
  • Compliance with dress code and hand hygiene policies
  • Annual acknowledgment of ethics and compliance policies
  • Completion of fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate prior to start and annually thereafter
  • Unit-specific competency exams may be required

Notes

  • Fingerprinting must be completed using specific Ohio codes and within 1 year of start date
  • Candidates with breaks in service over 90 days may require new fingerprinting
  • Background check and fingerprinting results with any hits require additional documentation and adjudication
  • Facility may require additional certifications or training depending on unit assignment

This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists seeking travel assignments with weekend night shifts and the flexibility to float between campuses. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
