Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Seeking a Registered Nurse for Med/Surg Telemetry unit on a travel/contract basis. This position involves working 12-hour shifts on a rotating day/night schedule (7pm-7:30am and 7am-7:30pm). Shift rotation may be adjusted based on operational needs.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Minimum of 1.5 years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Current Ohio RN license or a compact state license in hand.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross).
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross).
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.

Additional Requirements

• Must work at least every other holiday.
• Successful completion of ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam during orientation (passing scores required).
• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried while on assignment.
• Background checks including fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required prior to start and updated annually.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start and updated annually.
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 12 months)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination (required annually, no declinations accepted)
• Drug screening (standard 10 panel) within 12 months, updated annually.
• Completion of required onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).

Orientation & Competency Testing

• Baseline competency exams on medication administration and ECG interpretation required at orientation.
• Candidates unsuccessful on first attempt will receive remediation and retake opportunities.
• Orientation includes submission of hours worked via designated system.

References & Employment History

• Two professional references required from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
• Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history, with 2 years in acute care and similar specialty area.
