Registered Nurse - Mother/Baby

Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

A Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the care of a group of patients, focusing on safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN assists in maintaining a financially stable unit and promotes professional development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members and applies the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care. The role includes patient and family comfort, education, satisfaction, and mentoring/precepting staff.


Job Responsibilities

  • Perform assessments and reassessments according to policy or patient condition, making sound independent decisions.
  • Initiate, prioritize, and implement the plan of care; review and revise as needed.
  • Collaborate with patient/family and interdisciplinary services; use resources appropriately.
  • Monitor and document responses to clinical interventions.
  • Facilitate, coordinate, provide, and evaluate education specific to patient/family needs during stay and at discharge.
  • Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; function as a mentor/preceptor.
  • Encourage teamwork and communicate opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implement practice changes.
  • Comply with regulatory standards and participate in the Practice Governance model.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
  • Minimum 2 years of Maternal-Newborn nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Acute Care nursing experience
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program - Advanced (NRP-Advanced) certification
  • STABLE certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system
