Description
Registered Nurse - Med/Telemetry Unit
Location: Savannah, Georgia
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Unit Overview
- New 10-bed Med/Tele unit for regional admissions
- Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:4, sometimes 1:5
- Charge nurse on night shift (usually does not take patient assignment)
- Nurse aides available with a ratio of 1:10
- Respiratory equipment includes nasal cannulas, BiPAP, and High Flow NC (no ventilators)
- Telemetry monitor techs read strips, but RNs must be able to interpret rhythms
- Shifts allow self-scheduling and block scheduling, with occasional adjustments for staffing
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- Holiday coverage required unless approved time off
- No call or standby requirements
- Rare floating to Neurosurgical PCU with similar ratios
- Dress code: Navy scrubs
- Orientation includes one day of computer skills and 12-hour night shift training
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience in Med/Telemetry or similar hospital setting
- Successful completion of at least 1 prior travel nursing contract (prior travel experience required)
- BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required
- Ability to titrate drips (common drips include Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must have experience in a hospital of similar size and acuity
- Local candidate rule: Travelers must live more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered
- Orientation dates available (specific dates not included)
