Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (EP RN)
Location: Stockton, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced EP RN to support a busy cath lab performing diagnostic and interventional coronary and peripheral procedures. The facility is a STEMI receiving center with a high volume of STEMI cases monthly.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform pre-procedure patient assessments including vital signs, allergies, labs, and history. Educate patients and obtain informed consent.
- Administer moderate sedation and monitor patient response during procedures.
- Maintain sterile field and assist with catheter insertion.
- Monitor cardiac rhythm, hemodynamics, and patient status throughout procedures.
- Provide post-procedure recovery care, monitor for complications, assess access sites, and reinforce post-op instructions.
- Accurately document assessments, medications, interventions, and outcomes in the EMR.
- Respond to emergency code situations, including ACLS during cardiac arrest or rapid decompensation.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, techs, anesthesia, and support staff to ensure optimal patient care.
Work Environment & Schedule
- 4 cath lab suites/labs with 15-20 cases per day on average.
- 12-hour shifts, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
- One night of call per week; call crew stays until all cases are completed, with the following day off. Possible overtime if EP cases extend.
- Weekend call every 6th weekend, with every other weekend worked. Occasional Saturday cases (rare).
- Call response time: 30 minutes or less.
- No floating required.
- Hospital-provided scrubs.
Required Certifications & Skills
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Experience with critically ill patients.
- Must have experience with peripheral and coronary circulation procedures.
- Familiarity with Merge Hemo system is a plus.
- Experience with Cerner EMR, Phillips and Siemens imaging equipment preferred.
Additional Information
- Cardiologists are available 24/7 on stand-by or working.
- Respiratory therapists are present for cases requiring ventilators.
- Charge nurse coverage during the day; circulator nurse acts as charge nurse after hours.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California.
