Location: Saint Louis, Missouri

Job Description

• Provide direct patient care for Med/Surg patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize comfort and outcomes.
• Utilize nursing process consistent with Missouri Nurse Practice Act and professional standards.
• May be floated to other units depending on staffing needs.
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality.
• Work primarily with adult inpatient Med/Surg population.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 15 (with 15 additional beds under construction)
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:6-7 on nights (ratios not guaranteed)
• Equipment: Nova Meters (blood glucose), Alaris IV pump, Kangaroo pumps, SCD machine
• EMR System: EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience in an inpatient setting within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Additional Requirements & Information

• Flu vaccination required from November 1 to April 1; no declinations accepted.
• Night shift orientation occurs on day shift; availability for full orientation week required.
• Flexible scheduling options available; must be indicated on submission.
• Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance. Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs., pinch up to 15 lbs., and minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• Exposure to blood and body fluids is a high risk.
• Dress code: Black scrubs; no open-toed shoes or other unacceptable attire.
