Job Opportunity: NICU Registered Nurse
Location: Modesto, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work rotating weekend shifts
- Attend deliveries including high risk and well baby cases
- Local BR (bill rate) differs
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum 1 year of recent NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on position
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) may be required depending on position
- CCRN, TNCC, EFM certifications may be required depending on position
- Competency exams (Medication Test/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG, etc.) as applicable
- State license verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
Background & Screening Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace and alias checks
- FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC Sanctions List, and Sex Offender searches required and updated annually or monthly as applicable
- Education verification required (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must clear candidate for work)
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (exceptions apply)
- Immunizations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
- Drug testing as noted above
Documentation & Compliance
- Must provide 7 years of full work history with no gaps
- Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually
- References: 2 professional references required for clinical roles within 3 years
- Various facility-specific documents and attestations must be reviewed and signed prior to start (e.g., Code of Conduct, Standards of Business Conduct, Vendor Training, TB Questionnaire)
- Religious exemption forms available for certain vaccine or PPE requirements

- This is a travel contract position with rotating weekend shifts in a NICU setting
- Candidate must be prepared to attend deliveries (both high risk and well baby)
- Compliance with all background checks, certifications, immunizations, and health screenings is mandatory for assignment start and continuation
