Registered Nurse - Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel Contract

Shift: Days, 4 x 10-hour shifts
Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
Weekend Hours: As required by facility

Equipment: Pumps, drains, and other PACU equipment

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Missouri
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Minimum 1 year of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience within the last year
Experience in an inpatient setting
Stepdown unit experience
Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system

Job Responsibilities

Provide post-anesthesia care to surgical patients under physician orders
Implement physical/occupational therapy evaluation and treatment plans based on patient needs
Collaborate with healthcare team to ensure quality patient care
Perform duties under supervision of nursing leadership
Adhere to facility dress code: scrubs only (black scrub color)

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Patient care may involve heavy lifting, bending, standing
Physical demands include pushing up to 40 lbs, pulling 60 lbs, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
Use of medical and office equipment as needed

Unit & Patient Population

Surgical patients in a 26-bed PACU unit
Float requirement includes Heart Hospital PACU

Additional Notes

Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for travel period November 1 through April 1; declinations not accepted
Personality fit: quick learner, team player
