CT Technologist (Computed Tomography) - Massachusetts
Location: Melrose, MA
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Specialty: CT Technologist
Experience Required: 3-5 years in CT technology
License Required: Massachusetts state license and ARRT (CT) certification
Certifications: BLS Certification, IV certification or IV competency required
Equipment Experience:
- GE VCT and Evo/Evolution scanners
- GE dual energy scanner (experience with GE equipment is a must)
- Ability to perform calcium scoring on GE equipment is a plus
Job Description
Seeking a CT Technologist for inpatient and outpatient settings, including an outpatient center with urgent care. The position requires working independently at times and handling a variety of CT procedures including occasional CTA (no coronal CTA). The facility operates one floor with limited inpatient cases; more routine head CTs for falls and other scans.
Essential Technical Functions
- Follow hospital protocols for exam routines and produce quality studies efficiently
- Operate all department equipment or request training as needed
- Perform scanner warm-up, quality assurance, and operate pressure injectors and PACS systems
- Complete CT procedures effectively, including patient communication and room preparation
- Adjust and manipulate images (windowing, contrast, algorithms, reformats)
- Select proper scanning levels based on the field and organ
- Ensure all scans are properly identified with patient and exam information
- Complete administrative tasks related to procedures (tech edits, escorting patients, cleaning)
- Report equipment malfunctions promptly
- Communicate findings to physicians and other clinical staff as needed
- Retrieve prior exams and prepare images for radiologists or emergency staff
- Maintain stock and cleanliness of work areas
- Perform clerical duties to maintain workflow and quality standards
Work Schedule
- 4 shifts per 10-hour day
- Typical shift: 11:00 AM – 9:30 PM
- Every other weekend: 10:00 AM – 8:30 PM
Additional Notes
- Must be licensed in Massachusetts and ARRT(CT) certified
- Must have 3-5 years of CT experience
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
- IV certification or competency is mandatory
- Experience with GE CT scanners is a deal breaker
This opportunity is suitable for CT Technologists with solid experience on GE equipment, who are comfortable working independently and handling a variety of CT procedures in a hospital outpatient setting.
