Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech

Location: Santa Monica, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work in a STEMI and Stroke receiving center with 4 labs.
• Support cardiac, electrophysiology (EP), venous thromboembolism (VTE) thrombectomy, interventional neuro, interventional radiology (IR), TAVR/TMVR, Watchman, Mitraclip, diagnostic and interventional cardiology, diagnostic and interventional neuro, and IR procedures.
• Schedule: Monday to Friday with call requirements including weekends (Saturday/Sunday).
• Floating required between specialties within the lab.
• Variable start date, ASAP.
• First-time travelers accepted.
• Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager discretion.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in California
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience as a Cath Lab Technologist within the last year
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)
  • Fluoroscopy Permit
• On-call availability required (Monday-Friday plus weekend call)

Experience

• Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
• Minimum 1 year acute care Cath Lab experience required.
• No electrophysiology or structural heart experience required, but stroke and interventional radiology experience preferred.
• Prior travel experience not explicitly required.

Facility & Work Environment

• Acute care hospital setting, beachside location.
• Total staffed beds: 266.
• Charting system: Epic.
• Scrub color provided for Cath Lab staff.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
• Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
• Drug screen: 10 panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • TDAP (within 10 years or declination accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Respirator fit testing required for travel starts after 2/5/2024, updated annually.
• References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting.

Training & Competency

• Must complete required WorkRamp modules annually, including:

  • Regulatory requirements
  • Specialty-specific modules for Cath Lab and related specialties
  • Epic training modules (if applicable)
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable.
• Color blindness testing may be required on a unit basis.

Additional Notes

• Floating policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other units within reasonable distance.
• Facility can call off once per two-week pay period.
• Guaranteed hours subject to facility policy.
