Registered Nurse - PACU

Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

A Registered Nurse (RN) in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. The RN assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates patient care plans, focusing on comfort, education, and satisfaction. The role includes supervising licensed and non-licensed staff, mentoring, and participating in quality and safety improvement efforts.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent decisions.
  • Develop, prioritize, and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
  • Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during the stay and at discharge.
  • Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; serve as a mentor and preceptor.
  • Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement initiatives and comply with regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Education

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing.

Certifications & Licensure

  • Valid Registered Nurse license in Kentucky.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
