Description
Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7pm - 7am)
- Minimum of 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
- Must have 18 months permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience prior to travel
- Must hold a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
- AHA or American Red Cross BLS & ACLS certification required
- Willingness to obtain NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification prior to start
- One recent reference from a manager, supervisor, or director in the specialty required (Charge RN references accepted)
- ECG rhythm recognition test and medication safety exam (SafeMedicate) must be passed during orientation
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 1.5 years of Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
- Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required and must be updated annually
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and results received prior to extension
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including assessment of ability to perform essential job functions
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
- Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required annually (no declinations accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start
- Employment application including 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care setting in a similar area
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams as required
Orientation & Testing
- Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- Baseline competency exams during orientation:
- Medication administration exam (SafeMedicate) with 90% passing score
- ECG interpretation exam with 80% passing score
- Candidates unsuccessful on first attempt will receive remediation and retake opportunities
- Not required for candidates with less than 6 months gap since last contract at this or related facility
References
- Two professional references required from employment within one year of start date
- References must be from a manager, assistant nurse manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director
- Co-worker references are not acceptable
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all required documentation and certifications prior to start
- Compliance with all health and safety requirements is mandatory
- Candidates with gaps in employment longer than 30 days may need to update physical and eye exams
- Fingerprinting must be completed both through agency and facility processes
- Candidates must maintain legal name consistency across all documentation
This position requires a highly experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RN with current licensure and certifications, ready to work night shifts on a travel contract basis in Ohio.
