Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse

Location: Frederick, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Description

• Labor & Delivery, Recovery, Antepartum, Postpartum Unit
• Suburban location approximately 1 hour from Baltimore and Washington DC
• Rotating holidays and weekends required; block scheduling not available
• No on-call required

Required Experience

• Minimum 3 years current and strong Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) experience
• RN acute care experience required
• Antepartum and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) experience preferred
• Antepartum/postpartum cross-training expected
• Prior travel experience required

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Active Maryland or Compact RN license in hand (no exceptions)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (C-EFM required at time of submission)
• Fetal monitoring certification must be maintained; NCC preferred but AWHONN Intermediate accepted initially
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required for Labor & Delivery
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required
• Other certifications such as Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required depending on unit specifics

Required Qualifications

• Proof of 2 clinical references within the last 12 months
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and federal exclusions screening
• Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days of start
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • Tdap vaccine (no declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B series or positive titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position
• Completion of facility-required competency exams and orientation modules prior to start (including medication/pharmacology and fetal monitoring modules)
• Annual updates and renewals as required by facility policies

• Rotating schedule includes holidays and weekends; no block scheduling available
• Facility requires completion of orientation and competency testing prior to start date
• Mask fit testing required prior to start
• Vaccine exemption requests require facility review and approval
• Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses with strong LDRP skills and prior travel contract experience seeking a 13-week travel assignment in Maryland.
