Registered Nurse - Oncology

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Information

  • Unit: Oncology/Women’s Surgical
  • Number of Beds: 24
  • Staff per Shift:
    • Day: 1 CNC, 4-6 RNs, 2 CNAs, 1 HUC
    • Night: 1 CNC, 4-6 RNs, 2 CNAs
  • Patient Ratios: 1:4 or 1:5
  • Equipment: Standard unit equipment
  • EMR System: Cerner

Job Description

  • Typical procedures: Occasional pelvic exams, echo, thoracentesis
  • Floating: Rarely floats; may float to other med-surg units
  • Dress Code:
    • RNs: Navy, white, or combination of both
    • CNAs: Galaxy Blue
  • Weekend Requirement: Staff required to work 6 weekend days per schedule
  • On Call: Rare

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Oncology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina
  • BLS certification
  • De-escalation skills in a healthcare setting
  • Completion of Oncology knowledge assessment or RN pharmacology knowledge assessment or Hazardous drug risk education (USP 800)

  • No required certifications beyond BLS at this time
