Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with Med/Surg Telemetry experience for a travel contract position. This role involves working 12-hour rotating day/night shifts (7pm-7:30am and 7am-7:30pm), with shift rotation possible based on operational needs. The nurse must be available to work at least every other holiday.


Required Experience

  • Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience.
  • Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments.

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Current Ohio RN license or compact state license in hand.
  • AHA or American Red Cross certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Required Qualifications & Assessments

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Med Surg / Telemetry experience of at least 1.5 years, including experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS certification
  • CST certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Immunizations and titers required: Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine (seasonal), TB screening (2-step PPD or equivalent).
  • Negative drug screen (10-panel) within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Background checks including FCRA compliant 7-year search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG monthly checks.

Orientation & Training

  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
  • Baseline competency exams (medication and ECG) at orientation with remediation and retake opportunities if needed.
  • SafeMedicate prep materials provided for exam preparation.

Additional Requirements

  • Must carry government-issued photo ID while on assignment.
  • References: 2 professional references from within 1 year of start date (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
  • Employment application with at least 3 years prior work history, including 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar specialty.

Notes

  • Candidates with a break in employment longer than 6 months at this or similar facilities may need to retake orientation modules and competency exams.
  • Candidates must have legal name correctly listed on all documentation.
  • Facility reserves the right to rotate shifts as needed to meet operational demands.

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs who meet the licensing and certification requirements and are comfortable with rotating 12-hour shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment.
