Job Description
- Role as an Interventional Radiology (IR) Registered Nurse, partly working in a recovery room with patients from deep organ biopsies and angiography cases.
- Operate complex stationary and mobile diagnostic equipment.
- Assist physicians during diagnostic and guidance imaging for invasive procedures.
- Educate patients on procedures, medications, contrast media, and biological effects to alleviate fear and anxiety.
- IR RN shifts: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (0930-1800), no call or weekends for IR shifts.
- Recovery room duties may include varied call nights, weekends, and rotating weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Current California RN license.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications (AHA or ARC only).
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of recent relevant nursing experience, with preference for 5 years.
- Experience with recovery on deep organ and angiography cases highly preferred (PACU experience).
- Interventional Radiology/Cath Lab experience preferred.
- Ability to work varied call nights and rotating weekends (for recovery room duties).
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS and ACLS required.
- Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, CCRN, TNCC, EFM, CPI, and NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on position specifics.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams and EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exams may be required.
- State license verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.
- Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings required.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- TB screening (annual renewal)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April)
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law).
Background & Compliance
- Comprehensive background checks including FACIS Level 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search, OFAC Sanctions List, and others.
- Education verification required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Various facility-specific documents and attestations must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
- TB questionnaire and respiratory safety clearance required annually.
- Employment history verification for up to 7 years required.
Additional Information
- Candidates must have full 7 years of work history documented with no gaps.
- References required as per agency standards.
- Some positions may require pass/fail testing (e.g., EKG exam) after start.
- Religious exemptions for certain requirements may be considered on a case-by-case basis with proper documentation.
